Popsicles and freezies and slushies

Popsicles and freezies and slushies

Similar to the last post. Popsicles and freezies are pure sugar. That means cavities cavities cavities. Adults are know to indulge in these cold treats but children often partake the most.

An occasional consumption is normal but during the hot summer months frequent consumption of these sugary treats can create a haven for bacteria to grow.

While these treats are great for cooling down and keeping the little ones hydrated, try something healthier instead.

Fresh fruit is always a treat in the summer to keep us hydrated. But if you or your little ones are craving a frozen treat try Smoothie popsicles or watermelon popsicles.

Watermelon is so refreshing and helps to hydrate the body as well. Homemade watermelon popsicles can easily be made. Attached is the recipe below. All you need are popsicle holders (can be found at the dollar store, grochery stores or most home food stores).

Recipe:

2 cups of watermelon (take the seeds out and rind off)

1/2 lemon squeezed

10 strawberries

1/2 cup of water

Blend all ingredients in a blender

Pour into reusable popsicle molds and put in the freezer for approximately 4 hours.

Take out and enjoy!!!!
